A Day in the Life Of A Stay at Home Mom
As a stay at home mom, or dad in some cases, do you ever hear those snide little comments about how little you do, and that it can't be that hard to stay at home and it makes you want to scream, if you say yes, you are not alone. I know my own father in law always makes the little comments like" I don't see how you are tired, you don't work" or "Why is your house not clean, your home all day" and I want to look at him and say " If you think it is so easy, you come do it!!! I know personally as a stay at home mother of a 33 month old and a 16 month old, it is sometimes, to say the least, overwhelming. It is a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week job, in which you don't recieve any pay, benefits, or much needed vacation days, but well worth it. You cook, you clean your home, and in the event you are like me and have little ones, you then re-pick up everything you just recently picked up, because your children thought it would be funny to throw it all back down. My own father who stayed at home with me and my two sisters and then some. has said numerous times that it was easier to work at a
job than at home, and he wouldmuch rather work at ANY job, than stay at home with children, and would tell any man who thought otherwise so. My husband and odviously my Father-In-Law are two of those men. My husband will come home from work and look around, saying, "well the house needs to be cleaned, what have you done all day?"If you as the working parent get sick, you have the option of calling into work, A stay at home parent doesn't, you suck it up and go on about your business. I tell my husband on a daily basis if he thinks it is easy then we can switch job's for a week and he can see how excactly un-easy it really is, he never takes me up on my offers. While we stress over our children, and how we are possibly going to get everything accomplished that we need to get done, remember all the doctors appointments, most would not trade it in for anything. Would I like a "me" day, where I don't have to hear" brother hit me!" or pick Cheerios out of my hair? Of course. But I also get to constantly watch my children grow up.I get to spend my time with who I love the most, and hear those sweet words at night, going to bed.."I love you mommy, your my best friend."
