Autism
You have your baby your bundle of joy. You know something is different, not meeting milestones, slow in other aspects. But you chalk it up to differences in children. But in your heart you know that something is different . But does it make you think different of your child or children. NO. You get names and words thrown at you from all directions ADHD, SPD, SID, Fragile X, PDD PDD NOS, not truly knowing what to do for your child. You want to follow all instructions and directions but they seem to conflict with each other. At what point do you decide to stray from the norm and take things into your own hands. After all who knows your child better then you do. I followed all direction for my son and realized that it wasnt helping so i did what any mother would do to protect and help her child. I read, researched, talked to other parents of special needs kids and realized that what the d
r's and specialists were telling me to do was things they were telling every other mother parent or caregiver to do. But the first thing you understand when you find out about autism is that its a spectrum disorder meaning that all kids are affected differently and what works for one child may not be the answer for another. But there are certain things i would HIGHLY recommend that every parent do. Get your child tested if there is any inkling or question in your mind, talk to your doctor voice your concerns and make sure that they are heard, if need me find your states Baby Net and tell them whats going on to make your have concerns for your child. And tell them you want a evaluation. They are quick about making the appointment and coming out and observing your child asking questions and evaluating your child on all different scales. Turn around time to find out if your child does have a delay or anything is fairly quick usually within 1-3 weeks.
