Dealing with Daycare Separation Issues
In today's society, daycare is necessary for working parents. Parents do not want their young children going home to be alone until they get off work. There are a number of facilities that provide different options for parents.
There are facilities that will give your preschool child a headstart in learning programs to prepare them when they enroll in school. If your child attends school and needs a place for them go after school, there are facilities that provide after school programs and will help children with their homework. You have to determine what your needs are and find an appropriate center for your child.
If your child has been home with you for most of their early years, placing them in a daycare facility can cause separation anxiety issues. Not all children will have a problem of being away from you for hours. They will enjoy being around other children. But, if your child does have a problem with you leaving them, you need to reassure them that you love them and will be back to get them. Let your child know when you will be back to pick them up and be there on time.
Separation anxiety is fear of being left by a parent who will not return. Your child will probably have a t
emper tantrum before you leave home. If you are anxious about leaving your child, they will sense this and it will make them all the more anxious. When you talk to your child, your tone of voice and the words you use will soothe them. Some daycare centers allow a child to bring a favorite toy with them. This may help your child to relax. Be consistent in your routine. Do not skip days and change hours. Once your child develops a routine and is reassured that you love them and know you will return, they will start to relax.
If your child's anxiety lasts for more than a couple of weeks, there may be other problems. Make an unannounced visit to the daycare center and observe your child. Your child may not be in a suitable environment. At this point, you will want to investiagate other daycare centers to fine one more suitable for your child.
