Finding out I was pregnant at 18

Up until now my pregnancy has been a rollercoaster of a time. Finding out I was pregnant at just 18 scared the life out of me and the thought of telling my parents dreaded me. However, I am living testimony to the fact that it may seem scary at first but things all do turn out alright in the end.
I found out I was pregnant in the beginning of February this year. I found out because I went to the doctors to get my Cervical Cancer jab and as I was a new patient they needed a urine sample. From this they told me I was not able to get my vaccination. I was relieved until they told me it was becasue I had tested positive for pregnancy! Luckily I always kept a spare pregnancy test in my drawer at home and did it as soon as I got home... I had to see the blue line for myself. Obviously, it was positive and I text my boyfriend immediately. I lived with him at his parents anyway so I waited for him to get home to discuss it some more. I was all messed up and told him that there was no way I could have a baby, I did not want to recieve the label associated with getting pregnant young. My boyfriend said that he would support me no matter what and came with me to my next doctor's appointment where I was to discu
ss my options.
When I entered the room, there were images of a newborn baby on the windowsil and it didnt take me long to realise that my doctor had just had a baby herself. She did not discuss with us my options to get rid of my baby, instead she congratulated us and told us how it was the most magical thing in the world. She estimated me to be approximately 6 weeks pregnant from my last period and referred me to a midwife for an 8 week appointment.
As soon as we left the doctor's room my boyfriend turned to me and said "I really want to do this" and my eyes filled up and I agreed on the condition that he would look after me for the whole pregnancy and afterwards and would never leave me with this baby to bring up on my own. He promised.
Oviously i didnt want to tell my parents, my mam lived nearly 200 miles away but she wasnt who was scaring me, it was my dad. He lived about 10 mile away and I had a feeling he would not take it lightly. My partner told his parents that night and they were so happy. So about a week later I plucked up the courage to call my mam. She cried as I told her and at first I thought she was disappointed but she wept with joy saying how excited she was to be a grandma. Next was my dad. I couldnt get through to him by phone so I had to send him a text....

Article seems good but doesnt sounds that realistic. First of all, why this should have come as a suprise to lady that she is pregnant. They might ofcourse had not used any precautions. So by now, she should have prepared mentally for this or else taken some measure to get rid of it before she actually became pregnant.
