Foods your body needs
Our body needs nutrients to grow healthy and strong. We get nutrients from the food we eat. These nutrients include proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals. If a child does not eat the right kind of food, he or she may get sick because of lack or oversupply of some nutrients.
More than half of your daily diet should make up of carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are nutrients needed by the body for its different activities. Two groups of carbohydrates are sugar and starches. Sugar and starches are sources of energy. Starches are found in bread, cereals, flour, and noodles. Natural sugars are found in fruits. Have you observe your food for lunch today? Which of them contains carbohydrates?
Fats are nutrients that also provide energy. You get fats when you eat meat, fish, and dairy products such as milk, butter and cheese. Some vegetables also contain fats. Your body stores the fats from these foods. Your body will use these fats later on when you need them. However, eating too much fatty foods is not good for the body.
