Growing up tips: Keep safe at all times
As a growing child, why do you have to keep safe at all times?
One weekend afternoon, Mica and her parents watched their favorite circus show. Every time they watched this show, Mica would notice that the host warned the audience. "Dear viewers please do not try these stunts at home. Our performers spent years studying with the experts to master their stunts", the host always said. She also notices the excerpt sentence on the bottom of the screen "Parental guidance needed". To clear this doubt, Mica asks her father why the host always said that and what does the word mean. "People should keep themselves safe at all times. There are things that are dangerous to do like those circus stunts", her father explained. Parental guidance means that parents should guide their children watching this kind of show and help them explained any question the child might ask.
Your body can get hurt. You may suffer from cuts, bruises, or broken bones. All these can make you feel pain. The pain can keep you from studying or playing. Sometimes, if you are hurt badly, it can leave you a life long suffering and discomfort like scars, disfigure and sickness. To avoid getting hurt, you must be careful at all times. When you go up or down the stairs, always hold on the railings and avoid running or rushing up and down. When playing in a yard or playing ground, never climb walls and trees. You are always in danger of falling. After playing, put back your toys in their proper places. You might or someone might accidentally step on them if you leave them just anywhere.
Have you tried crossing the street by yourself? Did you see a series of yellow or white lines across the road? Those lines mark the pedestrian lane, the area where you can safely cross the street. Using the pedestrian lane avoids accidents. It helps people get to the other side of the street is there is no overpass or underpass.
In a situation that there are eminent dangers of hurting yourself or others, asking for help is the best thing you could do. If there is an accident, you may ask other people for help. You may run to your parents and older siblings, or call up any community helper. Policemen, firemen, and nurses are among the people you can call for help. You must also know the emergency numbers to dial if you need any of them.
Now, can you determine who and how will you ask for help in the following situation?
a. You accidentally cut your finger.
b. You see that your neighbor's curtain is on fire.
c. Or you see a stranger going inside your backyard and want to go inside your house.
To the parents, it is very important to teach your child the simple safety tips and guide them in watching their favorite TV programs as they are powerful tools in molding your child's mind.
