What do you say of a long knitted scarf that fits great your jacket? Many people of all ages wear pretty long scarfs in areas where weather is cold at winter time. During cold holidays in the mopuntains such a scarf helps you keep your throat and nose healthy if you hide behind one. For young girls who would like to start knitting, a scarf may be the best choice.

So, you buy about 300 g of puffy wool, a pair of needles and you begin by putting the first buckles on them. You direct the thread around your thumb and pointer of your left hand and you try to make chain links that you put on a needle. The thread is to make a closed buckle on the needle. You may try to put your first 30-50 buckles with a crochet or ask help from someone who knows how to make it.

The first line has to link the buckles you have put on the needle. This is why you have to direct the thread of wool through every buckle and make a new one of every buckle. They will make the second line of your scarf. Considering the knitting patterns you may use for this simple thing, you may try the easiest pattern of all, that is all the buckles on the side a of your scarf will be buckles, and all the buckles in the b side of your scarf will be - buckles. The a side is the nicer one, the b one is the hidden side where there are ends of thread, sewing points etc. The buckles are made by directing the thread to the a side. For this you introduce the right hand needle in the first buckle on the left hand needle. Near the buckle is the end of the thread and you have to bring the thread through the buckle towards you. The new made buckle is kept on the needle in your right hand. You keep making buckles to the end of your line. When you knitted the last buckle of the line you turn the jumper and you continue to knit it. For this b side you can make - buckles. These ones are made by directing the thread in the buckles by putting the needle in the buckles and keep it on the part of the buckle towards you. The buckle is divided now into two parts because the needle is in it. For making the - buckles you direct the thread through the buckle to yourself on the part of the buckle that is to yourself with the needle.

After making about 150 cm of it, or 70 inches, by alternating the lines of - buckles with those of buckles you have to end your scarf by making one buckle of two.
