Teddy Bears have been given as a genuine gift for over a century. In fact the name Teddy Bear became apparent when Theodore Roosevelt was president of the United States. This young president gave the bear the name.

The story began when Roosevelt was out in the woods and stumbled upon a baby bear that was in severe pain. Roosevelt demanded that someone kill the animal out of mercy to stop its suffering. A drawing was later done about Roosevelt and the baby bear that he ordered to be shot. The picture showed Roosevelt who was coincidentally referred by the name Teddy by his friends and family members. He was holding onto the small bear and ever since his mercy towards the bear was imminent, people began utilizing the name Teddy Bear to describe the creatures.

There is no proof as to who created the first Teddy Bear. All we know is the name of Teddy stuck and soon enough bears were being manufactured to represent the kind heart of the 26th president. People have different speculations of the how the bears may have come into existence. Yet there is no solid proof to back up the allegations.

Teddy Bears were primarily manufactured as toys for children. The cuddly soft bears made a nice friend for any little boy or girl. Firemen and Police men would bring Teddy Bears to sick children in hospitals as a means to show they care. The Teddy Bear was to be referred to as their friend who was going through the illness with the child.

In a lot of ways the Teddy Bears were more than enough to lift the children spirits. For some children it was the last thing they would see when they laid their heads down and ended their battle with whatever illness was ailing them. The bear was enough however, to help the children persevere and continue to fight.

Presently people are given Teddy Bears for a variety of different reasons. Many husbands and wives commence in giving each other a Teddy Bear as a romantic gesture to show they care. Couples also swap Teddy Bears to commemorate special occasions such as anniversaries or birthdays.

A Teddy Bear has the ability to bring a smile to anyone's face. A bear will never hurt you or leave your side. They are the perfect shoulder to cry on, they do not judge and they do not take offense to anything that you say.
