A person who calls herself/himself a nanny is one who deals with children. Being a nanny makes one responsible for looking after the child or children of one's employer, helping parents physically cope with the stresses of rearing a child, or children. In these fast paced times, nanny jobs are becoming more of a demand, especially for career driven parents who simply have a hard time balancing their time in dealing with the stresses of their respective careers and raising a child, or children.

The profession has been around since the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with nannies then, often referred to as nurses. Their primary area of concern would be to look after a household's child, or children, which isn't far from the makings of nanny jobs today.

Indeed much hasn't changed in the realm of nanny jobs since then, as the roles of nannies are pretty much the same as it was since the profession's inception.

- Though nannies spend a lot of time with her/his employer's child, or children, a nanny shouldn't outstage a parent's role in the child's, or children's live/lives. Keeping the parents aware of their child's, or children's, concerns is also another responsibility within nanny jobs, ensuring a good communication status between child and parent. Bottom line, a nanny shouldn't come in between her/his employer and the employer's child, or children.
- Ideally, a nanny's concern extends to the cleanliness and neatness of the home, as a clean and neat home stands to be the ideal ambience for a child, or children, to grow. By doing this, a nanny actually instills into the child the value of keeping clean and organized, which would greatly aid the child, or children, in the future.

There is nothing trivial about nanny jobs. Simple as the concept of a nanny is, the actual application of the whole nanny concept is far from being simple. Such are the responsibilities of nanny jobs in these times.
